From transforming blank canvases into unforgettable experiences to embracing AI-driven efficiencies, Nikki Yep shares her journey and insights from 12 years at the helm of Event Solutions.

How It All Began
For Nikki Yep, Partner & Senior Event Planner at Event Solutions, the spark for event planning ignited at the University of Southern California, where she managed campus events. What started as a side passion evolved into a thriving career. “I loved the energy, the chaos, and ultimately, the joy that came from seeing an event come to life,” Nikki shares.
That early exposure propelled her into leadership roles, and today, as Chief Operating Officer and Sr. Event Planner at Event Solutions, she oversees operational strategies while staying deeply connected to the creative side of events.
Leading with Purpose and Precision
In her current role, Nikki balances big-picture strategy with the fine details that make each event unforgettable. “I’m responsible for everything from budgeting and logistics to vendor partnerships and experiential design,” she explains. Her mission? To deliver events that don’t just meet client expectations but exceed them in every possible way.
Planning in a Post-Pandemic World
Reflecting on her first in-person event after the pandemic, Nikki recalls, “It felt like producing a concert after years of silence—emotions were high, and safety protocols added a new layer of complexity.”
Yet despite the challenges, some things remained constant: the importance of collaboration, creativity, and keeping a calm head under pressure.
Navigating Sourcing Challenges
When asked about the biggest hurdles in venue sourcing, Nikki doesn’t hesitate. “Transparency has always been a challenge. Hidden costs, rigid contracts, and long back-and-forth negotiations slow everything down,” she says.
To overcome these challenges, Nikki relies on clear communication, data-driven decisions, and platforms that streamline the process, saving time and budget.
The Rise of Technology in Event Planning
One word: AI. Nikki is a strong advocate for adopting AI-driven solutions. “It’s the most versatile and advanced tool we have right now. AI helps me make smarter, faster decisions, from proposal comparisons to streamlining planning timelines.”

Advice for Fellow Planners
Nikki encourages planners to learn and expand their networks continually. “Immerse yourself in industry associations like MPI and PCMA. These aren’t just organizations—communities where you find mentors, share experiences, and discover the latest trends.”
Her parting wisdom? “Don’t just attend events. Host them, volunteer, and put yourself in the heart of the action. That’s where real growth happens.”
